Fed: 60 per cent of Australian workers fear terrorist attacks
A workplace survey has found more than 60 per cent of Australian employees fear the
country is in danger of terrorist attacks.
The industry-wide survey of 5,000 people across Australia also found almost 65 per
cent of workers believe United States organisations in Australia are potential targets.
LEIGH ANDERSON of TMP Worldwide says 24 per cent of workers feel insecure about visiting
or working in offices in high rise buildings and 41 per cent would not apply for a position
in a US-based organisation.
It also found 30 per cent of companies have taken extra precautions against attack,
with 50 per cent putting on extra security and 30 per cent revising emergency procedures.
Just under 20 per cent now conduct specialised mail room checks and just one per cent
does stricter background checks on employees.
Those aged 19 to 24 are the most fearful of attack.
