Qld: No misconduct in Volkers case, says CMC
Queensland's corruption watchdog has found no official misconduct in the decision bythe Director of Public Prosecution's to drop charges against national women's swimmingcoach SCOTT VOLKERS.
The Crime and Misconduct Commission's report has been tabled in state parliament today.
It examined whether there was official misconduct in the investigation, prosecutionand discontinuance of the prosecution against Mr VOLKERS.
The DPP dropped charges involving three women last September after Mr VOLKERS' defenceteam produced new evidence.
The charges, which Mr VOLKERS has vehemently denied, relate to alleged indecent dealingagainst three girls 18 years ago when he was a junior swimming coach.
Releasing the report, CMC chairman BRENDAN BUTLER says the inquiry also found no evidenceof misconduct by the DPP or police or any political interference.
