Fed: No further inquest needed over patient deaths: Coroner
The NSW Deputy Coroner has found there's no cause for further coronial investigations
into 14 patient deaths at two Sydney hospitals.
Deputy Coroner CARL MILOVANOVICH has been investigating the 14 deaths at Camden and
Campbelltown hospitals in Sydney's south west.
The 14 were among 19 deaths referred to the coroner following an investigation by the
Health Care Complaints Commission.
Mr MILOVANOVICH says none of the deaths require a further coronial inquiry, such as
a formal inquest.
But in several cases he's amended the cause of death or the wording on death certificates.
Mr MILOVANOVICH says the Health Care Complaints Commission is the appropriate body
to deal with complaints about patient care.
The Coroner is investigating a total of 33 patient deaths at the hospitals.
