Sydney police shut down unruly party

Police in the Sydney western suburb of Lidcombe have shut down a party at a community
hall and charged five young people.

They say they were called about 1115pm (AEDT) last night to a the hall on Joseph Street,
following reports of a fight following the arrival of gate-crashers.

Police spoke with the organisers before deciding to shut the party down, but were confronted
by a number of males outside the hall who refused to leave after being told to move one.

Police called for reinforcements, including the Public Order and Riot Squad, Dog Unit,
Region Enforcement Squad and Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad.

Police used capsicum spray to break up a fight between two males, before shutting down
the party and moving on a big crowd.

Four young males and a boy have been charged with various offences related to the incident.
