NSW: Mother killed, toddler, man injured in crash

SYDNEY, April 25 AAP - A mother died and her two-year-old daughter and a man were injured
in a two-car crash near Newcastle, police said today.

Police said a 29-year-old woman from Merriwa was killed when her Mitsubishi Magna collided
head-on with a Ford Fairmont on the Golden Highway near Merriwa, in the upper Hunter area,
about 9am (AEST) yesterday.

The woman's two-year-old daughter was taken to Merriwa District Hospital with injuries
to her chest and one arm.

The toddler was in a stable condition.

The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old man from Rouse Hill in northwest Sydney, was
airlifted to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital with chest injuries and broken legs.
