Moving back to front: ; Sandoval changes delivery, gets first victory of season

The back burner is no place to be if you're a minor leaguepitcher.

On Thursday, Charleston's Marcos "Sandy" Sandoval threw his wayonto the front burner.

"He had pitched himself out of being a prospect in thisorganization," Alley Cat pitching coach Hector Berrios said.

But Berrios didn't want to give up on the 6-foot-1, 185-pound 20-year-old. The right-hander from Venezuela had a 7.96 ERA, an 0-3record and had made just two starts.

"I asked our roving guy if it were possible to do somethingdifferent from what we'd been doing," Berrios said. "He told me togo ahead."

Sandoval couldn't consistently hit the strike zone …
