Fed: Elderly woman dies in fire
An elderly woman has been killed in a fire at a Canberra senior citizens' complex.
The fire brigade was called to the complex in the southern suburb of Waramanga at about
5am (AEDT) this morning after a fire broke out in a residential unit.
Residents were trying to put out the fire with hoses when the fire brigade arrived.
The roof of the unit collapsed during the blaze and fire officers later discovered
the body of an elderly woman inside.
